Debbie B. Hernandez, APRN, FNP-C joined the Sycamore Medical Clinic team in July 2020. She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing degree from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2001. She then went on to receive her Master of Science degree for family nurse practitioner from the University of Texas at Tyler in December of 2019. She worked as an inpatient hospital nurse from 2001-2016. Her previous employment has included inpatient obstetrics, women’s health, occupational health, and home health. Debbie is also
bilingual.

Stevie Byrd, APRN, FNP-C

Stephanie Lynn “Stevie” Byrd (Stevie) APRN, FNP-C has been with Sycamore Medical Clinic since January 2019 after graduating with her MSN from the University of Texas at Arlington and obtaining her certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She graduated from Texas Christian University with her BSN and was a RN for over 10 years before becoming a nurse practitioner.
Her previous experience includes providing emergency care for all ages.

Carolyn Salter, MD

Carolyn F. Salter, MD is currently practicing General Medicine. 

She attended Oklahoma State University and Stephen F. Austin State University. She entered medical school before obtaining a B.A. degree. She received her M.D. at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas in 1981. She served a Rotating Surgical Internship at the Oregon Health Sciences University in 1982.
She then served an Anesthesiology Residency at the University of Florida from
1982 – 1984. She is Board Certified in Anesthesiology and practices medicine
with her husband, Dr. Gorby. She performs minor office surgical procedures, women’s health exams, and other routine office visits.

Michael Gorby, MD

Board Certified Internal Medicine &
Critical Care

Michael S. Gorby, MD, FACP, has been practicing in Palestine, Texas, since 1991. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine with a sub-specialty in Critical Care. At Sycamore Medical Clinic, Dr. Gorby is committed to improving the health of patients in his community. Dr. Gorby received his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry at Reed College in 1978 and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his Doctorate in Medicine in 1982 from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas, graduating 9th in his class. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society as a Junior. He served an Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Florida from 1982 – 1985. He served as the Chief Medical Resident and Instructor in Critical Care from 1985 – 1986 and then as Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque from 1986 – 1990. He is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians (FACP). Outside of his practice, Dr. Gorby is involved in Rotary, Boy Scouts of America, St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, Palestine Chamber of Commerce, Texas Medical Association, and Anderson-Leon County Medical Society.
